Replacement Dwelling, Wickham Bishops

We secured planning permission for a substantial replacement dwelling in Wickham Bishops, Essex.

The existing site is located outside of the settlement boundary of the existing village. It contained a modest sized bungalow within a large plot. The design of the existing bungalow had no redeeming features and it did not reflect the rural vernacular of the area.

We designed a replacement building that embraced the local vernacular and rural character. Consequently, we were able to demonstrate to the Council, that despite being significantly larger than the dwelling it is replacing, the proposed dwelling would make a positive contribution to the rural setting. We were also able to demonstrate that the site itself could support a larger dwelling given its size and established landscape features.
