Heritage Development, Maldon

We were asked to review an existing planning consent that allowed the change of use of a care home to residential development. The building is Listed and within a Conservation Area in Maldon, which created a constraint to development.

Our thorough design and planning review informed a redesign of the proposed conversion, resulting in a more efficient layout that actually enhanced the building’s historic fabric. We engaged the Council’s Conservation Officer who supported the proposed modifications to the existing planning consent.

Making an alteration or extending a Listed building is a very complex and challenging process, however with the right planning and design approach a positive outcome can normally be achieved.
