Based in Colchester, Essex, we are a passionate consultancy that provides integrated architecture, urban design and town planning services.
Where we are Located
A D P are led by David Rose, Stephen Sanderson and Andrew Ransome. We have recently moved our office to the new neighbourhood centre at Chesterwell, Colchester, Essex.
This is an exciting move for us, as it places our office and team at the centre of the new Chesterwell community, a neighbourhood that we have been instrumental in its planning and design.
Our History
Until recently our offices were within the hophouse of the former Truman Brewery building. We are proud to have designed and secured the planning consent for the conversion of this historic brewery over 20 years ago and help transform it from a derelict building to a thriving mixed-use residential and commercial centre within West Bergholt.
A D P was first formed in 1976 as an Architect’s practice and in the 1990s added Town Planning to its services to create a multi-disciplinary approach to development. Our integrated architecture, urban design and town planning service ensures that from the outset, the planning and design strategy are aligned in a holistic manner. Through this approach, we have established a reputation for delivering high-quality places and buildings of varying scale, from large scale urban extensions to bespoke individual schemes.
Our Architectural and Planning Ethos
At A D P, our ethos and business approach has centred on the delivery of good design in the built environment. We believe that good design is a means of achieving a wide range of social, economic and environmental goals, making places that will be successful and sustainable. At one end of the scale, the sense of place can be appreciated through the sensitive siting and design of household spaces that makes a house, a home. At the other end of the scale, we explore forms of sustainable development that creates a harmonious environment, successful neighbourhoods and activates a strong sense of community.

Where We Work
We have worked across many local planning authority areas, including those, within Essex, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Kent. We enjoy taking on new projects in different areas as this allows us to investigate, explore and push our skills and experience.
