Brownfield Redevelopment at Mistley, Essex

ADP secured planning permission for the residential redevelopment of a builders yard in Mistley.

The site was located to rear of an existing residential area, however the former use was not compatible with the surrounding area.

Being a previously developed site, this represented an excellent opportunity to secure a residential development within a sustainable location within the existing settlement that would contribute positively to the overall character of the area and the sense of place.

We put forward a design process that maximised the development potential of this brownfield site, whilst also responding to the character of the village.

The proposed dwellings all comprised family homes arranged around a formal landscaped street. The appearance of the individual dwellings was informed by the traditional design found within the locality. The internal family spaces were carefully designed to maximise light and sense of space, enhancing liveability.

This high-quality development has proved popular locally and has integrated well into the settlement and community.
