Rural Business Building, West Bergholt

A D P were asked to develop a proposal to redevelop an existing yard on the edge of West Bergholt, Essex. The existing site contained extensive hardstanding and three wooden single storey storage buildings. These buildings were in poor condition and reached the end of their useful life.

We designed and secured planning permission for the regeneration of this site. The proposal sought the removal of the existing buildings and their replacement, with a new two-storey storage and office building.

The design of the building was informed by the Essex barn vernacular and despite being a significant increase in the amount of development compared with the existing situation, represented an attractive building that comfortably sits within its setting.

This building and site have provide to be an important employment hub, creating jobs in this village location and has added to the rural vibrancy.
