Securing Advertisement Consent at Newgate Street, City of London
We are pleased to announce that we have successfully obtained advertisement consent for signage at Newgate Street, London EC1A 7AE.
Project Overview
The approved proposal includes:
A non-illuminated fascia sign measuring 0.4m in height and 4.6m in width, positioned 4.6m above ground level.
An externally illuminated projecting hanging sign measuring 0.7m by 0.7m, positioned at 3m above ground level.
The signage has been designed to be in keeping with the Newgate Street Conservation Area, ensuring a balance between branding visibility and the area’s historic character.
Key Considerations & Planning Compliance
Conservation Area Sensitivity: Given the site’s location in the Newgate Street Conservation Area, special attention was given to the signage’s impact on the surrounding heritage.
Illumination Adjustments: The originally proposed illumination levels were successfully negotiated down to 150cd/m², ensuring compliance with conservation standards while maintaining brand visibility.
Material & Design: The signs are constructed from aluminium folded panels, ensuring durability and a high-quality aesthetic that aligns with the site's historic setting.
Public Safety & Visibility: The placement and scale of the signage ensure pedestrian and vehicular safety, with no objections raised by the City of London Conservation Area Advisory Committee.
Consent Details & Planning Policies
The approval aligns with the Town and Country Planning (Control of Advertisements) Regulations 2007 and relevant Local Plan policies, including:
CS10 - Promoting a high-quality environment
CS12 - Conserving or enhancing heritage assets
DM10.6 - Advertisements
