Suffolk Glamping Site Granted Planning Permission

We are really pleased to have secured planning permission for the creation of a glamping site, just outside of Long Melford and Sudbury in Suffolk.

The glamping site will comprise a Yurt and the erection of a single Shepherd Hut, together with an ancillary utility block that will provide toilet, wash and kitchen facilities.

Securing Planning for a Glamping Site: The Planning Strategy

We were approach by our client to understand the planning potential for the proposed glamping site at this location.

We subsequently undertook a detailed assessment to understand the planning risks and put together a strategy to address the identified planning issues, which in this case included ecology and landscape matters, together site-specific design challenges, such as flood risk.

The Planning Application

Once the strategy had been agreed, we put together a robust planning application submission, and appointed the relevant third party consultants to form part of the project team. Our architects designed the accommodation and put forward well presented and attractive site plan.

The planning application was well received by Babergh District Council, with strong support from their economic development team who recognised that this proposal would boost and diversify local tourism.

The Babergh District Council planning department also recognised that the scheme would deliver enhanced landscaping and net ecological gain as well as the economic benefits and promptly approved the application.
